Do mermaids have souls?

This came up in question weither or not mermaids actually have souls. I'm asking this as part of my research on mermaids. It doesn't have to be an actual answer, but answer what you believe about the topic.

P.S. No I don't plan on becoming a mermaid or believe that mermaids are real creatures like any questions before this. This is where people post their theories and beliefs about the topic; if you're offended about this, please don't comment.
