I want to know some of the ways with which desertification of land can be prevented. I am a high school student and my teacher assigned me to write a detail report on desertification of land. I have done all other things but I am confused on prevention techniques. Would someone please guide me?

Drylands can be prevented from onset of desertification or its continuation through effectively establishing a “culture of prevention”.
Desertification can be prevented and reversed using following methods:
Key methods used for preventing desertification are integrated land and water management.
The methods used for protection against soils from erosion, salinization, and other forms of soil degradation can prevent desertification.
Safety through vegetative cover can be a vital tool for prevention of desertification.
Conditions also favor pastoral & cropping land usage, in the dry sub-humid & semi-arid zones.
Use of environment-friendly and ecosystem suitable technology should be used in drylands at risk of desertification. The technology should also be compatible with local needs, instead of being against them.
Local communities can prevent desertification and provide effective dryland resource management but are often limited by their capacity to act.
Desertification can be averted by turning to alternative source of earning other than those relying on land and natural resource use; however, they should provide sustainable income.
Creating financial opportunities in drylands urban centers and locations outside drylands can be used to stop desertification.
Restoration of ecosystem services that have been lost due to desertification is the goal of rehabilitation and restoration approaches.
Combination of policies and technologies and the close involvement of local people are required for appropriate restoration and rehabilitation of desertified drylands.
For desertified areas, rehabilitation strategies have a mixed effect on ecosystems, human well-being, and poverty reduction; therefore these strategies should be carefully planned and implemented.
