DVR Repair. My DVR Recorder from Directv is no longer working. I can hear the motor and the fan

My DVR Recorder from Directv is no longer working. I can hear the motor and the fan running on back, however all lights on the front are off and won't come on even when though I have pressed the power button.

Directv says I have to send it back and they will replace it with another one. The problem is I have lots of important programs and shows on this one that I really don't want to lose. They suggest that I either send it back for a replacement or fix it on my own. My question for you is how do I fix it myself? Thanks in advance for your help.
