    Custom duty on Importing a used car to Pakistan; just to make it clear there are Two different regimes are en-force for levy of the taxes payable on import of vehicles, Special Regime and Normal Regime.

    Special Regime Covers the used cars

    Certain specified used vehicles imported under the aforesaid three schemes.
    Under the “Special Regime” the taxes are levied on the basis of engine capacity, irrespective of the value of the vehicle and the optional or additional accessories. The accumulated amount of taxes, covering Custom Duty, Sales Tax, Income Tax and Capital Value Tax based on engine capacity, on import of the used vehicles meant for transport of passengers, are listed below:

    Duty on Importing a used car to Pakistan

    Type of Vehicle: Upto 800 CC (Asian makes only)
    Taxes: US$ 4,000

    Type of Vehicle: Upto 800 CC (Other than Asian makes)
    Taxes: US$ 6,000

    Type of Vehicle: From 801 CC to 1000 CC
    Taxes: US$ 5,000

    Type of Vehicle: From 1001 CC to 1300 CC
    Taxes: US$ 10,000

    Type of Vehicle: From 1301 CC to 1500 CC
    Taxes: US$ 14,000

    Type of Vehicle: From 1501 CC to 1600 CC
    Taxes: US$ 17,000

    Type of Vehicle: From 1601 CC to 1800 CC excluding jeeps (Asian makes only)
    Taxes: US$ 21,000

    The old and used vehicle must be registered in your name at least 60 days prior to departure for Pakistan and must not be older than three years.

      The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) expects an additional revenue of Rs3 to Rs5 billion in the wake of the federal cabinet’s decision allowing import of five-year-old cars under the gift, personal baggage or transfer of residence schemes.

    Earlier, the age limit was three years for imported used cars. The decision will also help normalise prices of cars in the country.

    A senior official of the FBR told The Express Tribune that a notification of the decision is expected shortly. He also said that a proposal to rationalise tariffs on the import of used cars is also being considered, though a decision has not yet been made.

    Sources said that tax and duty on the import of used cars are received either in dollars or an equal amount in rupees. An amount of $4,400 will be received as tax and duty on cars up to 800cc, $5,500 on cars from 801cc to 1,000cc, $11,000 on cars from 1,001cc to 1,300cc, $15,400 on cars from 1,301cc to 1,500cc, $18,700 on cars from 1,501cc to 1,600cc and $23,100 on cars from 1,601cc to 1,800cc.

    According to sources, two per cent depreciation allowance will be allowed on those imported cars where it will not exceed 50 per cent of the price.

    guys first of all if u have to import a car older than 3 years u will have to take permission from ministry of ministry of commerce (legally) or simply if u have someone at the clearence port (illegally) but that is alot of mess and if you are really influencial person... now the duty.... duty is now a days roughly 150% of the value of the car but customs department also take in account the engine capacity (cc) seats in the car. the weight and also which wheel drive is the car. after the duty is paid there are several other taxes like luxury tax that is 7%.also sales tax, income tax and also capital value tax on the car!!! simple method which i have developed for the total value of an imported car including all taxes is 3.5-4 times the original price example car costing RS 800,000 in japan will be of RS 3000000 = 3 million

    Every body refers to the Normal Regime, and Special Regime,... BUT no body actually says what this Normal Regime and Special Regime is really about and contains what type of vehicles? A simple Corolla won't be a Special Regime I know for a fact! If seen carefully, in Special Regime they have stated, "Certain specified used vehicles imported" .. now the question is what are these certain specified used vehicle.
