In the past I have covered my swimming pool and still spend time getting leaves off the cover and running a sump pump to get the water off the cover, what should I do?

Many homeowners look forward each year to cover their pool and protect it. People like to remain their pool with sparkling clear water that fill their mind and as they pull back the cover they want to see their pool with fresh and clean water in the winter. People fear that after some break when they start using the pool again it would be full of mud. But by following some tips you can keep the pool clean.
First Step that you can take is that you should close your pool before winter starts. Clean it from algae and clean its walls with a brush and use vacuum to remove any material. Second thing you can do is to ensure that the chemical levels are at the normal so the pH, calcium hardiness, total alkalinity and chlorine level should be proper.
Give a shock treatment to the pool to remove any chance of bacteria. A high dose of chlorine can kill bacteria present in it. Add Algae to your water, this will help in giving extra jolt of protection against algae formation. Clean the filters and skimmers to reduce the chance of germs and debris that develop over the winter and then they start creating problem for the water in the pool. Cover the pool with a suitable blanket that can cover the pool to prevent anything to enter it.
