Movie I watched on AMC in 1980.

I'm trying to find the name of a movie my husband and I watched on AMC in the early 80's. The movie has a turn-of-the-century setting and it is a comedy. I'm guessing it is from the 30's. I remember that the female star always clicked her mouth at her boyfriend (later husband). I also know that the movie was remade (also shown on AMC around the same time) in color. The original was much better. In the remake, I remember the couple having a baby in a stroller and the woman was dressed in a yellow dress and bonnet. Again, she made this noise with her tongue or mouth when trying to get her husband's attention. I'm sorry I don't remember a whole lot more, and this isn't much to go on. The most memorable thing is the noise she made, and I've never seen that used repeatedly in any other movies. My husband really enjoyed the movie, and as he is now deceased, I'd really like to find it and watch it again with our son. Any help you can offer would be great.
