Despite leading Australia to two ODI wins - and possibly a third on Wednesday - Michael Clarke will go back to his deputy role when Ricky Ponting returns to lead the Aussies in the fourth ODI. If results are anything to go by, it may be time for Ponting to step aside permanently.

Ponting is undoubtedly worth a place in both the test side (av: 55.88) and ODI team (av: 42.52), but as the first man in over 100 years to lead Australia to two Ashes defeats on English earth, his position as captain must be in doubt. Michael Clarke needs to learn the game from being in charge and making mistakes, and this needs to happen sooner rather than later.
