   Hi, Do you have a live phone line? Are you using a dedicated fax line? You can check your fax line by using the feature hook call. Not all machine have them. Or use the hand set. If you have a live phone line now check this. Is you fax set to auto answer? If it is not you need to either find how to set it on the diplay or refer to your owners manual. If this does not work after you have done this then you possibly have a bad modem.
