Can I hook up a laptop directly to surround sound speakers without a receiver?

Just bought a house with surround sound. Speaker connections (6) are in a jack in the wall. I don't have a receiver (yet)...is it possible to hook up my laptop to the speakers to listen to CD's or Pandora? What do I need?
