I got my green card on Jan 10, 2005. Today is Oct 9, 2009. I made many overseas trips during that time, but none is more than 6 months. The accumulative time of living in the US is about 2 years and 3 months. I plan to stay in the US till I get the citizenship, so by my 5-year anniversary (3 months from now), I will be able to satisfy the 2.5-year residency requirement. So my question is, since I don't meet the 2.5-year residency requirement now, but will be by the 5-year anniversary, can I still apply 3-month in advance; or I will have to satisfy the 2.5-year requirement before I can file N400? Thank you.
