Each state set criteria for CPA that all certified public accountants must be licensed. All accountants who enjoy the CPA designation must clear the Uniform Certified Public Accountants Examination, but the conditions to sit for the exam may differ from place to place. The responsibilities of CPAs include tax preparation, financial statement creation and auditing. The conditions to sit for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination depend on the country’s law and regulation, but a bachelor’s degree is usually the minimum obligation for the examination. The state boards of accountancy need the degree program to have a concentration in accounting to eligible for the exam. States needs a specific number of semester hours to fulfill eligibility conditions. Additionally to a concentration in accounting, states may also need the participants to pass other business courses. The Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination has four parts on different aspects of the field of accountancy. Participants submit an application to a state board of accountancy before arranging an examination date. The participant must get a notice to schedule from the state board. Once eligibility conditions are met successfully, the participants have 18 months to complete all four parts of the CPA examination. The four sections of the CPA examination contain auditing and attestation, financial accounting and reporting, regulations and business environment and ideas, according to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. Participants schedule one part of the examination at a time. When the candidate completes one part of the exam, she has 18 months to arrange and complete the remaining parts without losing credit for sections already completed.
