Okayy, so I've had my female budgie for about 4 years now, and the male for a little over a year.
Well they've recently been mating a lot, so I put a nesting box in their cage and my female (izzy) laid an egg last weekend, but I was gone for the weekend and I came home and it was all cracked. It was her first egg.
Well yesterday she laid another one, and she sat on it for a little bit and now she keeps throwing it out of the nesting box. So I took it out of their cage because I want to have babies! She's still big, and has big poops so I know she's not done laying them yet.
I put the one egg in another nesting box without a top, put it on a towel and i put a lamp near it to keep it warm.
How long do you think it will take for the egg to hatch?
And when it does hatch, should I put the baby in the nesting box with it's momma? Or what should I do with it? I'm scared Izzy and Squirt (the male) will kill it or something since they don't seem to know what they're doing so far haha.
If I should keep them separated, what should I feed the baby?
One of my friend's breeds budgies and she gave me Izzy but I think her budgies just did the process naturally and I don't think she had to ever help them because she never had any problems.
Any websites, or advice from anyone? It would be GREATLY appreciated Thank you very much for your help :)
