Question:

Blood Blister on Tragus Piercing?

I got my tragus pierced about 4 months ago with a CBR and a month ago I snagged it quite hard on a piece of clothing. About a week later a bump started to form and now it it quite a big bump despite me cleaning it everyday with sea salt soaks.
Today I used quite a hot sea salt soak on the bump for quite some time and an hour later it looks very dark, almost like theres blood trapped inside. I have heard that sea salt soaks and hot compresses help draw out any blood that may be trapped inside, is this actually true?? And will the bump EVER go down?

The damage done by your snag broke the inside lining of new skin that was trying to grow. The resulting raised scar tissue is a blood saturated mound of capillaries trying to help you heal. Frequent hot compresses can increase the circulation and aid the healing process to help the bump reduce over time. There are of course other options, but that is the mildest to start with, and works for many people. You may have to repeat throughout the day as often as hourly for fast results. I banged my tragus at a concert to the same bloody results, and it took me three days of consistent care and hot compresses repeatedly to get back to normal. you will likely irritate it more that way. Usually it will harden, dry up and peel of on it\"s own. Frequent use of hot compresses yes, dry rather than wet as described at http://piercing.org/pexy/recovery/recovery.html If you want to continue using hot saline, you can.
