I saw a movie many years ago about Irish Independence. The movie was in black and white and could have been made anywhere from 1920 to 1950. I remember the end scene where four men are in parliament arguing for why Ireland should be emancipated from England, and as the men leave parliament one of the men passes by the woman he loves. He is not allowed to speak to any one since he is on a political mission, and they just stare at each other across a crowded room with tears in their eyes. Any ideas on how I can trace this film? I was just a kid when I watched it and I do not know if it was on television or if was rented. Can someone tell me the title of this movie?

I am going to guess that you are thinking of “Parnell” starring Clark Gable.
Parnell is a MGM film starring Clark Gable as Charles Stewart Parnell, the legendary Irish politician. It is assessed Gable's worst film, and is classified in The Fifty Worst Films of All Time was produced in 1937.
Parnell had originally been cast to star Gable and his frequent co-star Joan Crawford. Myrna Loy, meanwhile, was to star in The Last of Mrs. Cheyney (1937). MGM literally flipped the assignments as Crawford did not obtain along with director John Stahl. Another matter came with the beard that the real Charles Parnell wore. Fans balked at the notion of Gable fraying a beard, and Gable, whose restriction in facial hair was his mustache, agreed. It was resolved upon that Gable would merely have a set of sideburns. As filming originated, Gable sensed very uneasy with his role, either unable or unwilling to portray the sensitive nature needed to capture the character. Loy subsequent remembered, "I academic approximate another side of him at that time, He was a man whoever loved poetry and fine literature, read it, and knew it. He would read poetry to me sometimes during breaches, but he didn't want anyone to know it.
