BenQ projector fault lamp L.E.D. blinks red and will not power on properly

the projector will not power on properly the green power LED will blink for 20 seconds then the red lamp LED starts blinking and the fans come one high and slow down immediately. this all stops after about 30 seconds and the power led goes back to orange

We had exactly that on ours too. The only thing I can add is that just before the lamp went out it would flicker a little then extinguish. Power down and up again and the same scenario. What I did next you should NOT do unless you are very experienced in electronics servicing. After letting the lamp cool I removed it and unscrewed the case (power plug removed obviously). I then found the lamp control PCB and removed it. There are three or four connectors and three screws. After looking over the PCB with a magnifier I noticed some suspect solder joints around the bigger power components. I re-soldered these and re-assembled the unit. As I say, DON'T DO THIS unless you really know your stuff! Anyway, bottom line is it's working again! I can't say for sure which component was to blame.
