I have my question regarding my all time favourite singer and song writer Barry Manilow. As per my knowledge, Barry had one real and one step father. For some reasons, both of them did not have Manilow as their surname. For this reason, my question is that did Barry ever use to go by another name?

There have always been several concerns about the surname used by Barry, eversince he is being known to the world of music. People around the world and specially Barry’s fans do always have this question that why Barry uses Manilow as his surname when his real father as well as his step father did not happen to be Manilows. According to his own biography, which is known to the readers as Sweet Life and Adventures on the Way to Paradise from the McGraw-Hill series in 1987, he was born by the name of Barry Alan Pincus in Brooklyn, New York, back in the year 1943. His biological father was an Irish truck driver, and his mother was the daughter of Russian immigrants. For some unknown reasons, Barry's father left when Barry was young, and so he did not happen to have much of an emotional attachment to his father. Barry writes in his book that, around his 13th birthday, he decided to adopt the name of his mother and grandparents, instead of keeping a name that meant little to him. From then on, he has been known as Barry Manilow.
