I ordered a special red palm banana plant and it has lots of caterpillars that are eating away at the leaves. I remove them daily but they seem to continue. There are also large brown patches over the leaves. I have included a photo of the patched leaf. I am on the Gulf coast and ordered the plant from Louisiana. I even see the patches on the new leaves before they start opening.
I really want to keep the plant as it isn't sold locally. How can I get rid of the caterpillars (altho I love butterflies) and treat for the patches?
