Baby girl - Liberty or Melody?

I had my heart set on the name Liberty if it's a girl and wanted to call her Liberty Jean (Jean after my Nan)

Anyway I spoke to my Nan last night and she asked if she could name the baby Melody (if it's a girl)

Now I can't decide, I like both! Also partly feel my nan is getting old and it would be nice if she named the baby but I can't let go of Liberty either!

Pls help!

Well I think you should name it Melody I think it is really sweet that your nan wants to have a part in naming your baby as long as you don't have a problem with it. You could always try for another baby and hopefully its a girl and name it Liberty or your could:

Melody Jean Liberty...

or

Liberty Jean Melody...

Good Luck!!

Tough One!

Melody is a very sweet name but I'd choose Liberty Jean 'cause:

1 - It's not very common.

2 - It's a very nice and meaningful name.

Melody.

It is the better name, but that's just my opinion.

I just think it's lovely that your Nan wants to name your little girl

so sweet

When she gets older - do you see her as a "Mel" to her pals or a "Libby" ?

Melody most definitely. It's lovely.

Liberty is kinda trashy. Similar to Destiny and Desiree....

I personally prefer the name Liberty rather than Melody. I think by giving her the middle name Jean after your Nan then you are showing your daughter and your Nan how important she is to you, which I think means more than having your Nan actually name your baby.

Oooh I'm with you on this one, Liberty is such a cool name and with the added potential of the nickname Libby.

You could go with Liberty Jean Melody or Liberty Melody Jean. That way your grandma has some input but you don't have to sacrifice the name you really love

Call it Liberty Melody Jean. Has a nice ring to it :)

I think both of the names are beautiful! Maybe you should name her Melody Liberty or Liberty Melody?

Or maybe you should explain that you do like the name Melody but you had your heart set on Liberty and ask her opinion on that name...if she likes it then you have her blessings.

Personally, I don't like either name, but it would be nice for your nan to name your baby. You could always have another child a call her Liberty, but your nan may not still be alive then. I like the was Liberty Jean flows better than Melody Jean.

I like Melody better - I'd listen to your Nan

How about Elizabeth Melody or Melody Elizabeth, and call her Libby? Then you've got both your Nan's choice and something close to yours?

Does your Nan know you are using her name as a middle name?

Try and talk to her, tell her you had your heart set on Liberty Jean..see what she says. If she still insists on calling her Melody (which is not a bad name!) then you have to decide whether or not you will...if you plan on having more children, you can use Melody or Liberty next time....

why not something like Liberty-Jean Melody, then everyone is happy

i personally prefer Melody, but you could have Liberty as a middle name and Jean, too.

So, Melody Liberty Jean, or Melody Jean Liberty.

use them both! like Melody Liberty Jean or Liberty Melody Jean,

I personally think Melody is better as a first as it sounds more classy.:)

It is completely up to you, obviously you want to please your nan but just dont feel pressured into doing anything you don't want to becuase you will regret it later. Both are quite pretty, but I couldn't say which was nicer as I can't decide. Just see which one your daughter (If its a girl) looks like when she is born. Or how about Liberty Jean-Melody (hyphenated or have as 2 middle names). That way both names are incorporated. Or Melody Jean-Liberty. But I prefer Liberty as the first name, slightly more unusual.

Anyway, congrats and good luck, hope the birth goes well
