   Historically speaking Birthday has been celebrated by mankind even before the rise of Christianity. You will be amazed to know, that the tradition of birthday celebrations originated in the Pagan culture. As pagan’s been superstitious, and were always in the fear of evil spirits, whom they believed visited people on their birthdays. In order to ward off the evil effects of those spirits, people used to gather around the person having birthday, and used to sing merry songs. These parties were really noisy, as it was believed that noise will scare off the evil spirits. At that time instead of gifts, guests brought good wishes for the birthday person. However, if gifts were brought, they were termed a good sign for the birthday person. In later periods, flowers became a popular birthday gift.
   Records of documented history reveal that only kings, members of nobility, and rich celeb rated birthdays. In old days, when Europe was living through the medieval times, common man and especially children had no means to celebrate birthdays. In that time, historians only wrote about the deeds of rich and famous, as they were wealthy enough to throw lavish birthday parties.
