Arts Court in Ottawa is home to the largest and most innovative creative group of Ottawa ’s professional arts producers and presenters which includes:

Arts Court in Ottawa is also home to the headquarters of 26 independent arts organizations. The building itself is a historic landmark located in the heart of the city. Year after year, Arts Court continues to evolve as the vibrant hub for Ottawa artists and audiences.

History of Arts Court in Ottawa

In 1974, a dedicated group of artists and arts supporters in our community pursued a vision… to find a home for Ottawa ’s professional arts producers and presenters.
In 1978, then Mayor Marion Dewar's Advisory Group on the Arts recommended the establishment of a municipal arts centre, an arts council, an arts festival and a permanent art collection for the City.

In 1985 the site and heritage building at 2 Daly Avenue, the former Carleton County Courthouse, was entrusted to the OACF by the City of Ottawa and the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton.In 1984, the Ottawa Arts Court Foundation (OACF) was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation.

In 1988, Arts Court was officially inaugurated as Ottawa ’s municipal arts centre.

Today, the Ottawa Arts Court Foundation works co-operatively with the City,
Arts Court tenants and artists, to facilitate collective goals. Arts Court is a City of Ottawa arts and cultural facility.

2008 is the 20th anniversary of Arts Court.
