Are Contact lenses harmful for eyes?

My eyesight is weak and I am wearing glasses! I am wondering if I can replace them with lenses. I am thinking if they are harmful for eyes or not.

Good quality of lenses are not harmful at all if you use it carefully and should remove before sleep, and if your eyes are sensitive than you should after consultation from a doctor.
