    Catfish have their taste buds on the outside of their bodies. These buds are especially concentrated on the channel catfish's four pair of barbels (whiskers) surrounding the mouth. The taste receptors reside on the taste buds and there are about 100,000 receptors on just one whisker let alone the rest of their body.
