"Anything Goes" is a big, dance musical. It is the story of Billy Crocker, who must deliver information to his boss, who is about to leave for Europe on the cruise ship S.S. America. Before the boat sails, he runs into an old female friend, Reno Sweeney - an evangelist turned entertainer who is traveling with her troup of "angels" - and Hope, a young woman he's loved, who is sailing with her mother and, Billy is sorry to see, with Sir Evelyn, her fiance. he decides to stow away and make Hope his own, and soon gets a new passport from Moonfaced Mullins, Public Enemy Number 13, whose friend Bonnie is also making the trip. On the trip Billy is mistaken for Snake Eyes Johnson, which makes him a celebrity with the passengers and staff but not with Hope. Eventually he gets Hope, Reno gets Sir Evelyn, Billy's boss becomes involved with Hope's mother, and all ends happily.
The passengers in Anything Goes are the singing and dancing ensemble. While in some shows this might be a small part, in shows like this one it is really far more important than you might think.

The passengers are those who are traveling on the cruise with the leads. They are the ones who make the cruise look real, who make it feel like a cruise, not just a bunch of actors on a stage. They are the ones that make the big song and dance numbers that this show is known for really work. Without the passengers Anything Goes doesn't really exist.

And who knows, there might even be a line or two in there for you. There often are lines in shows like this that are not given to specific people passenger 1 or female passenger or the like which the director gives out during rehearsals. So you never know. But the ensemble or chorus in big dance shows are often on stage more than the leads, even though they don't have lines. So have fun and enjoy the show.
