Anyone in the Philippines who are communicating with their family/friends in USA through Vonage?

I am interested in trying Vonages promo:
vonage-promo.com/?kw=gvp4+von...
but I am a little bit hesitant of the phone service and the cost of the subscription after the promo. I want to have an idea of how this works before I call the customer service because I heard they try to talk you into getting some other plan (which is more expensive with a per minute charging) and I do not want to get trapped :) Of course it is better to hear firsthand feedback from clients than customer service/advertisements candy coated words.

Oh and also, if you are not using Vonage, what VOIP are you using? Benefits?

Maraming salamat!

All VOIP phone services will work as long as you have a high speed Internet connection in the Philippines. Problem will be to get the service setup as the setup has to be done in the states. Your family/friends in the states could help you.

If cost is a concern then consider the following:

    http://www.themagicjack.ca/index.php

Here again, your family in the states will have to help you setup the service and then ship to you. I have this service as a backup and it works great.

    Best of luck....

my GF was there for the holidays, I have Vonage and was going to find a way to use their service.

Ended up just using Y! IM with the voice over, and worked alright.
