Hi, Here are the possibilities. The main control panel (not the keypad) has a rather large and heavy battery in it. This is the backup power for the control when AC power fails. If you replaced this one, and the BATT warning remains, then I'd suspect you have some wireless detection devices in the system. These have their own batteries (typically ordinary 9-volt batteries that you can get anywhere). In wireless systems, these generally last for about a year, so I'm puzzled why it took so long to start warning you. The big battery in the control panel has a useful life of about 5 years, but I've seen them go for 10 without causing problems. If all this is beyond what you want to do yourself, go here: www.alarm.org. This is the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association web site. Click on "Looking for an alarm dealer" and you can search local providers. You should be able to find one that's willing to do a "time and material" call without a service agreement. I hope this helps!
