Access code - DSC Power 832 PC5010 security system

We have not been using/arming the system for years...We misplaced the access code ... We have a battery failure on the system. Planning to purchase a replacement battery and instalI it, but I am concerned that the alarm will go off and will not be able to silence it without an expensive service call ...Is there a way to reset the access code and create a new one... If the alarm goes off what is the best way to silence it without the right code?

    replaced battery and transformer for our dsc power 832 sec system, but doesn't seem to have power. no lights. no sounds. does the battery have to charge for a while before we get some action on the system?
