Anosmia is the loss of the ability to smell. It could be temporary or even permanent. Another term hyposmia is used for decrease in the ability to smell. Hyperosmia is the term that refers to an increased ability to smell.
Anosmia can have various harmful effects. Patients with sudden onset anosmia may have less food appetizing, though there are few complain about this. Loss of smell can also be lethal because a person facing this diseas could not detect gas leakage, fire, and spoiled food. Anosmia can make tougher for a patient to get the same types of medical assistance as someone who has lost other senses, for example hearing or sight.

To lose an established and sentimental smell memory (e.g. the smell of grass, of the grandparents' attic, about particular book, about loved ones, has been known to ceate feelings of depression. It could lead to severe type of frustration.
Loss of olfaction may result to the decrease of libido, though this generally does not apply to congenital anosmics.

Well the sense of smell is much different than that of hearing and sight, in that i don't think there are prominent defects that usually cause loss of smell. It's more of a disability brought on by some sort of physical accident or progressively over one's life. Because of this, I don't think there is an accepted name for these people, so making one up would be preferred.
