Adopting acting as a career.

I'm a Sophomore in high school and I'm interested in acting as a career. Whether it be TV, movies, or theatre I want to get into the business sometime. I feel that I could be talented enough, but I don't know how I would get started. Such as, colleges, agents, getting roles, what to do before college, etc. If you could help me so I can start planning for later down the road, I would appreciate it.

The first thing you might consider is taking acting classes. Since you are currently in high school, you can check to see if any drama courses may be available for you to take or you can join a school drama club that puts on plays for students. You can also make an appointment with your school's career counselor and ask her what colleges in your area offer studies in acting. You can also simply sign up for an acting workshop in your community. Training is essential. Next would be to get an 8x10 black and white casting photo taken & write up a brief resume with information such as your contact info, height, weight, hair & eye color, special talents and any related training or experience. Send this along to various casting agencies in your area, offering your services to be an extra for film and television. Once you have some experience & training, you can then begin to look for an agent to represent you. This will increase your chances to get auditions for speaking roles. Once you get to that point, you can visit the screen actors guild website (SAG) where you will find a link that leads to a list of agents across the USA. Good luck.
