Question:

99 Yukon cranks starting problem

I have a question regarding my 99 Yukon. I have a 1999 Yukon Denali and it is acting like it has a dead battery, though it is fine. So far I have replaced the battery, cables and the starter but to no avail. When I turn the key to ON everything is normal. When I try to start it the motor will turn over a few times then the power either fades down to almost nothing or it completely cuts out. It does come right back after that and continues to crank a few times without a result. It does not even sound like it wants to start. It turns over freely but it never has even a slight thought of kicking over. Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

You should be able to spray some starter fluid directly into the injector ports, and then try to fire it up. The injectors are probably just plugged up, and you will need to pull them out and clean them up. For the injectors you have to get technical use voltmeter check ohms and resistance on injectors. Then check fuel pressure on fuel pump, check computer and its controls and everything. Also check your grounds on the vehicle and your hot cable on the battery. The system sounds like it has been dry for quite a while, and the old gas may be stale. You've added fresh, so try cleaning the injectors and when it starts, run it for a while to rejuvenate the entire fuel system. Your pump could still be working but it has to carry 51-55 lbs of pressure to make the injectors work anything less than that it. This can be checked with a fuel pressure Gauge connect it to the fitting found on the fuel line on the back of the engine.

A friend of mine had the same problem on a 1999 Tahoe, which is the same; and the dealership replaced the anti-theft module. Is the security light flashing when the vehicle wont start? If so thats a good indicator of the same issue.
