Likelihood is that it won't. People have been predicting the world's end for centuries, and so far, no one has been correct. I wouldn't worry because if the world ends, it's done so there won't be anything to worry about after that. Just relax. Not gonna happen.

if i'm not mistaken the ancient mayans were the first to predict this date of destruction but like music queen said people have been predicting the end for centuries and so far they have all been wrong... The Mayans were really REALLY smart people. They had an amazing calender that could predict winter eclipses a thousand years ahead of their time... that being said they studied the stars and everything really well. Their calender was just amazing along with their math skills. Their calender ends on DECEMBER 12, 2012. Now, let's just say who cares about the mayans and their little predictions.

Science. Scientists say that the the Milky Way will line up with Earth... this hasn't happened in over 25000 years! The solar activity will be up too. And their could be possibly a polar shift! That goes into another story...

This prediction is nonsense based on ignorance and lies. It's just a wild guess about a long Mayan calendar cycle ending then, and someone can't really give specific dates from wild guesses. A lot of other stuff was added to the ignorance about the Mayan calendar, and some people like to believe silly things. Very few people on here even bother to do any research to see the true situation.

No,no,no...the world's not gonna end in 2012.But astronomers say that a really dangerous meteor is going to fall on Earth in about 100 years from now,I don't remember exactly when.It will be so catastrophic that it will make many species,including humans,become extinct...Just like the event of dinosaurs being extinct.But until then...hehe:)

The Mayan Calendar ends in 2012 - but since they all died out centuries ago, it was a pretty optomisitc end date for them!

There is no Planet X/Nibiru, and the videos on YouTube that purport to have evidence are disingenuous to say the least. They put together pictures of other objects and try to scare people. There is no validity to their claims. If Nibiru existed we would have seen it by now!

There is an asteroid called Apophis that has a very small chance of hitting us in 2036 - but it is a very small chance.

Sooner or later the earth will be hit by an asteroid large enough to cause devastation - but it won;t happen in 2012.

Actually 2012 is the end of the Mayan Calendar, thats doesn't mean its the end of the world.
