The fuel filter is in the tank with the pump and sending unit and if the pump is bad the assembly gets replaced. Also, the filter is supposedly lifetime and does not have to be replaced. I have a 350Z and the pump and the filter were replaced for a condition similar to yours. The regulator was defective and it plugged two injectors when it went out. It is in the tank too...
