1999 sunfire digital odometer stuck in trip mode can it be fixed if i take it out

i push the plunger repeatedly but will not change modes,checked the little switch attached to the plunger on the circuit board and it is functioning

my 1999 passat transmission is stuck in limp mode
i replaced the trans and tcm and the trans is stuck in limp mode . i think it is a electrical problem
