I have a 1997 Ford Mustang and am having problems with the air conditioning. The Car is in such great shape except for this problem. When ever I turn on the air conditioning there is this terrible terrible smell. It is very sweet smelling and very strong...I actually can't describe the smell other than maybe the smell of a can spray...and gives you a head ache. The problem is, if I put it on, the smell comes out really badly and then if you turn off the car, the car dies and I have to let it cool down for about 5-10 minutes before I start it again. I have mentioned this to people and they don't see how the air condition could make the car die but it does...the car never dies any other time until I put that air conditioning on...so now i am suffering in the heat. One guy opened up the cap and noticed a green dye as if someone put dye in it. Do I need to get a new air conditioning installed?
