1996 Nissan Maxima. Can't use ignition switch anymore. Was having to turn key past normal

Can't use ignition switch anymore. Was having to turn key past normal distance for engine to start. Now this is not working. The battery is new so I assuming the switch is bad. I took steering column apart, however can't figure out which conductors I can use for a by-pass test. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
