I recently replaced a carburated 305 in my GMC 1500 with a newer(86) carb 305 with low miles. Got the new engine running but it didn't want to idle at 0 degrees timing and had no power. I advance the timing by like 20-30 degrees and it idled high and still had no power. I've since tried my old distributor and carb and the thing wont even fully fire up anymore. Someone suggested that my timing chain might have skipped a few teeth or be worn, Could this be the problem? Could the bearings be shot? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please help me!!!
