Title of 1960s comedy movie with ghosts and a yacht.

I watched a movie on TV around the early 80s, I was very young, and I think Phil Silvers was in it as a yacht captain, but I looked on IMDB and I may be wrong. Anyway I remember it was very amusing (it was a comedy) and in the end a yacht sinks and the people on it die and become ghosts. They ride off on the back of a car as ghosts and I think they get married or were married on the yacht before it sinks. I just remember that the yacht captain becomes a ghost after the yacht sinks and is with a female ghost on the back of a car as it drives away. I wish I could describe more or had something factual about the movie to help. Can you help me find the title to this movie? Do you know the name of this movie? I would be great full if you can help me.

Hello there, I think you must be referring to a film called "The Spirit Is Willing" which came out in 1967. It starred Sid Caesar and Vera Miles and was produced and directed by William Castle, the "B" movie horror king. It was what you would call a horror/comedy and the advertising carried the tagline, "The first picture to face the biggest problem of our time: the s*x life of ghosts!"

The plot of this movie goes like: New England, 1898. Sea captain Ebenezer Twitchell is gratified to marry the homely Felicity by her affluent male parent on the guarantee of inheriting his estate. But later the wedding ceremony Ebenezer is persuaded by the pretty young servant girl Jenny Pruitt. When she snatches them combined, Felicity kills them both with a meat cleaver, not in the past Ebenezer treats to kill her too. In the prevailing day employee editor Ben Powell pinpoints the lodging overseen cheaply and rents it, transferring in along with his wife Kate and precocious teenage son Steve. It is not prolonged in the past the ghosts of Ebenezer, Felicity and Jenny show and start causing mischief.
